As opposed to hydraulic elevators, traction lifts don’t have a storey limit. They operate using a geared-drive traction machine with a proprietary or non-proprietary controller as well as a governor. Equipped with a machine room on the ceiling, directly above the shaft, our traction elevators are powered by hoisting ropes and counterweights located at the rear or on the side of the platform. If counterweight pulleys are used, supporting rails must be installed in addition to the main rail.
Traction elevators use direct or alternating current motors according to the needs.
